ACC & Big 12 Week 14 Roundup: ‘Hoos down Hokies for first time since 2003
Virginia finally ended a 15-year losing streak to its in-state rival Virginia Tech and earned a trip to the ACC championship game with a 39-30 win over the Hokies on Friday night.
The Cavaliers put up 492 yards of total offense, with 475 of those yards coming from quarterback Bryce Perkins. Perkins completed 20 of 33 passes for 311 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball 19 times for 164 yards and two more scores.
Virginia took a 13-6 lead into the break following a defensive battle in the first half, as Virginia Tech kicker Brian Johnson hit two field goals for the Hokies, and Virginia earned its points through a 39-yard run and a 67-yard run by Perkins.
Virginia Tech began to rally in the third quarter, as quarterback Hendon Hooker ran for a touchdown and threw for another, finishing the day at 18-for-30 for 311 yards. Running back Deshawn McClease added a score on the ground to give the Hokies a 27-20 lead as they entered the fourth quarter.
Virginia came out strong in the final frame, however, and took the lead back with a 48-yard field goal from Delaney with 1:23 remaining. Defensive tackle Eli Hanback then sealed the victory when he recovered a Hokies fumble in the end zone for a touchdown with 1:01 left on the clock.

Kentucky 45, Louisville 13: Lynn Bowden Jr. rushed for career highs of 284 yards and four touchdowns to lead Kentucky to a school-record 517 rushing yards in a win over Louisville. Bowden has now led Kentucky to a 5-2 turnaround since he moved from receiver to quarterback.
No. 2 LSU 50, Texas A&M 7: Heisman hopeful Joe Burrow totaled 352 passing yards and three touchdowns to help LSU beat Texas A&M and clinch the Tigers’ first unbeaten regular season since 2011.
No. 11 Florida 40, Florida State 17: Kyle Trask threw three first-half touchdown passes, including two to Freddie Swain, and the Gators defeated the Seminoles to end a four-game home losing streak in the series.
Syracuse 39, Wake Forest 30: Syracuse defensive back Trill Williams snagged the ball from Wake Forest receiver Kendall Hinton and returned it 94 yards to a touchdown in overtime to defeat the Demon Deacons for the third year straight.
Boston College 26, Pittsburgh 19: Eagles running back AJ Dillon racked up 178 yards rushing, 47 of which came on their last drive, which ran the final 5:26 left off the clock after the Panthers made it a one-score game.
Duke 27, Miami 17: Duke snapped a five-game losing streak against the Hurricanes after its defense registered nine sacks and quarterback Quentin Harris threw for a touchdown and added another on the ground.
North Carolina 31, NC State 10: The Tar Heels are bowl-bound in the first year of head coach Mack Brown’s second term with North Carolina. Quarterback Sam Howell finished the day 23-33 for 301 yards and three touchdowns, and Dyami Brown added another 150 yards on six receptions including a touchdown.
Texas 49, Texas Tech 24: The Longhorns rallied to defeat the Red Raiders as wide receiver Devin Duverney registered 199 yards and a score on six receptions, and quarterback Sam Ehlinger passed for 348 yards and two touchdowns.
West Virginia 20, TCU 17: The Mountaineers kept the Horned Frogs from earning bowl eligibility as quarterback Jarret Doege threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Isaiah Esdale with 2:10 remaining in the game.
Oklahoma 34, Oklahoma State 16: The Sooners held off the Cowboys for the fifth straight year as running back Kennedy Brooks rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown while the defense held Oklahoma State to just one touchdown on the day.
Baylor 61, Kansas 6: In its final tune-up before the Big 12 championship, Baylor’s defense forced six turnovers in a route of the Jayhawks. Running back JaMycal Hasty led the offense with 92 yards and three touchdowns.
Kansas State 27, Iowa State 17: Wildcats running back Jordon Brown ran 19 times for 91 yards and a touchdown against the Big 12’s top run defense, while Jacardia Wright added another 60 and a score of his own. K-State’s ground attack was crucial to the victory, as the Cyclones held quarterback Skylar Thompson to just 57 passing yards on the day.
