The college football season is entering the home stretch, and the countdown to the 2018 Camping World Bowl is on in Orlando.

Here’s a round-up of Camping World Bowl projections from around the college football media world after Week 12:

Syracuse vs. Iowa State

• These programs have two previous matchups — the first was a 7-7 tie in 1957 and the second was a 14-13 Syracuse victory in 1969.
• Syracuse has played in one previous Camping World Bowl in 2004; the Orange lost to Georgia Tech 51-14.
• In the 2004 matchup, Syracuse tight end Brandon Darlington scored a two-point conversion; no other team has accomplished this in a Camping World Bowl since.
• Though Syracuse has the 24th ranked offense in the FBS (459.6 yards per game). They would be up against a Cyclones team that has been allowing its opponents only 350.5 total yards per game, good for 35th nationally.

Syracuse vs. West Virginia

• This would be the 61st time the Orange and the Mountaineers met on the gridiron; the previous Big East foes played each other for 58 consecutive years between 1955 and 2012.
• Syracuse holds the 33-27 record advantage and a three-game win streak on the Mountaineers
• The last time these programs squared off was in the 2012 Pinstripe Bowl in which ‘Cuse defeated West Virginia, 38-14
• Both of these programs rank in the top-10 nationally in scoring offense with Syracuse at No. 10 averaging 40.6 points per game and West Virginia at No. 9 with 40.9 points per game.

NC State vs. West Virginia

• This would be a rematch of our 2010 game, which saw a Russell Wilson-led NC State team top West Virginia, 23-7.
• The Wolfpack and Mountaineers were scheduled to meet in Week 3, but the game was canceled due to Hurricane Florence.
• The all-time series is tied 5-5; NC State has won past three meetings (2010, 1979, 1978).
• The Mountaineers’ last victory in the series came in 1975 Peach Bowl.
• This matchup would pit two of the top-10 passing offenses in the nation against each other. WVU quarterback Will Grier has 3,325 yards on the season with a completion rate of 67.2, while NC State’s Ryan Finley has thrown for 3,180 yards with a completion rate of 68.2.

NC State vs. Iowa State

• The only previous matchup between these programs came in the 1977 Peach Bowl, a 24-14 victory for NC State.
• Iowa State has been to 13 total bowl games in program history, but this would be its first-ever appearance in a bowl game in the Sunshine State.
• NC State is tied with Miami for the most appearances in a Camping World Bowl with five, and also leads the bowl records in several other statistical categories including the most passing yards (481, 2003 vs. Kansas) and the best completion percentage (82.6, 2003 vs. Kansas).
• The Wolfpack will need their high-powered passing offense (No. 6 nationally, 331.1 yards per game) against Iowa State’s defense, which ranks 18th nationally against the run, but only 70th nationally against the pass.

Syracuse vs. Texas

• Syracuse and Texas have played each other three previous times. The first contest was the 1960 Cotton Bowl, a 23-14 Syracuse victory.
• The other two matchups were a part of a home-and-home series in 1992-93; Syracuse won in New York 31-21 and the teams tied in 21-21 in Texas, giving the Orange a 2-0-1 advantage in the series.
• Syracuse has only appeared in one previous Camping World Bowl in which the Orange fell 51-14 to Georgia Tech in 2004
• Texas has traveled to Florida for three previous bowl games — the last was the 1974 Gator Bowl — and would be making its debut in the Camping World Bowl.

Pittsburgh vs. West Virginia

• This matchup would renew a long and storied rivalry that first began in 1895, an 8-0 West Virginia victory.
• West Virginia is the Panthers’ most-played opponent with 104 games from 1895-2011.
• The Panthers lead the overall series 61-40-3 but West Virginia won the most recent matchup 21-20 at Milan Puskar Stadium in 2011.
• West Virginia would be seeking its first win in a Camping World Bowl as it holds an 0-4 record with appearances in 1995, 1997, 2010 and 2016.

Pittsburgh vs. Iowa State

• The Panthers and the Cyclones have faced each other one time previously, in the 2000 Insight.com Bowl, now known as the Cheez-It Bowl; Iowa State defeated Pittsburgh 37-29.
• The Panthers only other Camping World Bowl appearance was a 34-19 win over NC State in 2001 — the bowl’s inaugural game in Orlando after 11 years in Miami.
• In Pittsburgh’s 2001 appearance, Torrie Cox recorded a 42-yard kickoff return, which is tied for the sixth longest in Camping World Bowl history.
• The Cyclones’ defense, which allows just 116.4 yards per game on the ground, would be up against the No. 15 rushing offense in the nation in Pitt (247.5 yards per game).
