After 11 weeks of action on the field, the College Football Playoff released its latest Top 25 poll Tuesday night.
Over at FloridaCitrusSports.com, we broke down the Nov. 11 College Football Playoff poll and what it could mean for the Camping World Bowl and Citrus Bowl this postseason.
As it relates to our ACC-Big 12 matchup specifically, it’s impossible to project anything with certainty right now, but the rankings give us a decent idea who could be available in our pick window.
The Camping World Bowl, on the other hand, gets the first pick from the ACC after the New Year’s Six bowls, and with Syracuse now in the Top 12, No. 20 Boston College has taken over as the highest-ranked ACC team (inclusive of Notre Dame) in that window. North Carolina State dropped out of the rankings following an upset loss to Wake Forest last Thursday.
There still may be opportunity for movement among the ACC leaders, however, as Syracuse faces Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium and finishes the year with a head-to-head matchup at Boston College. BC will be in Tallahassee this weekend to face Florida State, which will be playing its fourth consecutive game against a team ranked in the Top 25.
In the Big 12, the Camping World Bowl’s pick will depend on what the Alamo Bowl does with the first post-New Year’s Six pick from the conference.
Should the Alamo Bowl select No. 15 Texas, No. 16 Iowa State would be the next highest ranked team in the conference, based on the Nov. 13 rankings.
There are currently no other Big 12 teams ranked behind Iowa State in the CFP Top 25, however, West Virginia’s schedule still includes Oklahoma State, No. 6 Oklahoma and a potential Big 12 Championship Game, and a loss in any of those games could drop the Mountaineers out of the New Year’s 6 series and into the Alamo Bowl-Camping World Bowl pick window.
Texas and Iowa State will also face off in Austin this weekend in a game with potentially significant Camping World Bowl implications.
