ACC & Big 12 Preview – Week Eight

In the eighth week of the college football season, members of the Florida Citrus Sports Team Selection Committee are making visits throughout ACC and Big 12 country, meeting with fans across both conferences in advance of the Russell Athletic Bowl on December 29th.

#6 Clemson at Miami – 12:00 p.m. on ABC

It’s been five years since the Tigers (6-0, 3-0 ACC) and Hurricanes (4-2, 1-1 ACC) last met. The road team has won the last four meetings, three of which have been overtime games.

Texas Tech at #17 Oklahoma – 3:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN2

The Sooners (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) are 9-2 all-time against the Red Raiders (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) in Norman. Texas Tech is averaging 624 yards of total offense this season, while Oklahoma gave up just 110 yards last week.

Kansas State at Texas – 12:00 p.m. on Fox Sports 1

The Longhorns (2-4, 0-2 Big 12) have yet to win back-to-back games this season and look to avenge the 24-0 shutout the Wildcats (3-3, 0-3 Big 12) handed them last year.

#23 Duke at Virginia Tech – 3:30 p.m. on ESPNU

The Blue Devils (5-1, 2-0 ACC) have won five straight and 11 of their last 12 road games dating back to the start of the 2013 season. The Hokies (3-4, 1-2 ACC) are 7-0 in ACC play against Duke when topping the 400-yard plateau, and are averaging 445 yards/game so far this season.

Iowa State at #2 Baylor – 12:00 p.m. on ESPN

The Bears (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) look to extend their FBS-best home winning streak to 20 games against the Cyclones (2-4, 1-2 Big 12). Iowa State had scored just 16 first quarter points before amassing 21 last week, a pace they will need to continue to keep up with Baylor’s high-octane offense.

#9 Florida State at Georgia Tech – 7:00 p.m. on ESPN2

With a win, the Seminoles (6-0, 4-0 ACC) tie their own ACC record with 29 consecutive conference victories. Dalvin Cook is averaging 159 yards/game rushing while the Yellow Jackets (2-5, 0-4 ACC) are giving up an average of 178 yards/game so far this season.

Kansas at #14 Oklahoma State – 4:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1

The Jayhawks (0-6, 0-3 Big 12) racked up 330 passing yards last week, but face a Cowboys (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) defense that is averaging a stingy 180 yards/game. Oklahoma State has won 43 of its last 48 over unranked opponents and five straight against Kansas.

North Carolina State at Wake Forest – 12:00 p.m. on ESPN 3

In their all-time history, the Wolfpack (4-2, 0-2 ACC) have faced the Demon Deacons (3-4, 1-3 ACC) 108 times, more than any other team. Over the past decade, the home team has won 16 of their 18 meetings.

Boston College at Louisville – 12:30 p.m. on ESPN 3

The Eagles (3-4, 0-4 ACC) have won just one game against the Cardinals (2-4, 1-2 ACC) in Louisville, but bring the nation’s best defense that is allowing just 196 yards/game.

Here are the rest of the ACC and Big 12 games:

#25 Pittsburgh (5-1, 3-0 ACC) at Syracuse (3-3, 1-1 ACC) – 12:00 p.m. on ESPNU

Virginia (2-4, 1-1 ACC) at North Carolina (5-1, 2-0 ACC) – 3:30 p.m. on ESPN 3
