#14 Notre Dame 41, Southern Cal 31
The Fighting Irish (6-1) trailed 31-24 early in the fourth quarter but rallied with back-to-back scoring drives to hold off the Trojans (3-3, 1-2 Pac 12). C.J. Prosise rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns and DeShone Kizer passed for 227 yards (15-24) and two touchdowns. Notre Dame’s 41 points is the highest point total by the Irish against USC since the fabled “Green Jersey Game” in 1977, when Joe Montana led the Irish to a 49-19 victory.
Pittsburgh 31, Georgia Tech 28
Nate Peterman threw for three touchdown passes and Chris Blewitt kicked a 56-yard field goal in the final 70 seconds to help the Panthers (5-1, 3-0 ACC) defeat the Yellow Jackets (2-5, 0-4 ACC). Pitt’s defense, which began the day seventh in the nation in yards allowed, gave up 337 yards in the first half but recovered to hold the potent Georgia Tech attack to just 112 yards in the second half.
Miami 30, Virginia Tech 20
The Hurricanes (4-2, 1-1 ACC) forced four turnovers and made the most of a Hokies (3-4, 1-2 ACC) penalty to earn their fourth win. Facing third-and-20 from the Miami 11-yard line, QB Brad Kaaya (19-30, 296 yards, 2 TDs) prepared to run out the clock and head into halftime tied at 13. Virginia Tech jumped offsides and Kaaya turned the free play into a 45-yard completion. Seconds later Kaaya connected with Rashawn Scott (4 catches, 31 yards, 2 TDs) for the go-ahead touchdown, a lead the Hurricanes would not relinquish.
#19 Oklahoma 55, Kansas State 0
The Sooners (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) handed the Wildcats (3-3, 0-3 Big 12) their first shutout since 1996, as QB Baker Mayfield (20-27, 282 yards) threw for five first-half touchdowns. Oklahoma’s defense limited Kansas State to just 110 yards of total offense in their first blanking in 234 consecutive games.
#11 Florida State 41, Louisville 21
The Seminoles (6-0, 4-0 ACC) achieved bowl-eligible status for a record 34th straight season thanks to the offensive efforts of QB Everett Golson (26-38, 372 yards, 3 TDs) and RB Dalvin Cook (163 yards rushing, 2 TDs), and Kermit Whitfield (9 catches, 172 yards, 1 TD). The Cardinals (2-4, 1-2 ACC) had a 7-6 lead at halftime, but were outscored 31-14 in the second half.
