Today, both Virginia Tech and Rutgers football teams spent the morning at Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Florida for the Russell Athletic Bowl Day for Kids. This village is located near Central Florida’s most beloved attractions, set on 70-acres of a ‘storybook’ resort where children with life-threatening illnesses can be treated for a free week-long adventure.

 “This is an unbelievable experience coming to work with kids, anytime you get to work with kids is amazing because they are the future…. These kids are champions, not us,” sixth year, DB Mason Robinson commented this morning when he arrived at the village. “When they can smile through something like that, it makes my day that much better to see them smiling, I have everything in the world to be thankful for.”

“I think this an opportunity for our football program, to hopefully, bring some joy into the lives of families that need it,“  said Rutgers coach Kyle Flood.

At the Give Kids the World Village both teams danced and played alongside the children and went on rides together. Whether  dancing, riding on a train, playing mini golf or eating ice cream together, these two teams provided a special moment not only for the kids today, but realized how fortunate they are in return and got to enjoying being a kid again, even if it was just for the day.
