Rutgers senior All-America linebacker Khaseem Greene has had a phenomenal season and football career. Greene was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year. He is the second player in BIG EAST history to win Defensive Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons, joining Corey Moore of Virginia Tech. He was a unanimous selection after finishing the regular season with 125 tackles and six forced fumbles to help Rutgers become the No. 4 ranked scoring defense.

A redshirt senior, Greene has had 5.5 sacks, picked off two passes, and returned a fumble for a touchdown this season. He also leads the league in tackles with 10.4 per game, ranking 14th in the nation. Not bad for a linebacker who started his football career at free safety. His impressive performances this season have landed him a number of accolades.

Greene was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America team, the nation’s oldest All-America team. He is the fourth Scarlet Knight to earn a spot on this prestigious team, following RB Ray Rice, TE Marco Battaglia, and OT Anthony Davis.

Greene was also named to the AT&T ESPN All-America Team. He is fifth is school history with 376 career tackles, with a career high 22 tackles (6 solo, 16 assists) in the Army win this season, the fourth-highest total by a play in the nation in 2012.

Just a few days later, Greene was named to the Associated Press All-American, ninth player in school history and first Rutgers selection since Kenny Britt in 2008. He is also the first linebacker in school history to attain AP All-America status. Green was also selected to Phil Steele’s 2012 All-America team, being a second team All-America selection.

Finally, Greene accepted an invitation to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl, played on January 26 in Mobile, Alabama. This Senior Bowl is college football’s premier pre-draft event, featuring the best senior collegiate football players and will be televised lived by the NFL Network.

Needless to say, Khaseem Greene has had an amazing collegiate career and figures to be an impact player in Friday’s game.
